It is a widely held belief that critical days are exclusive to women, however, this assertion is a misconstrued notion. The masculine gender is also characterized by severe mood swings, aggression, or apathy - the explanation for this peculiarity is the ill-fated counterpart of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). The concept of critical days is the focus of our discourse, and we shall explore why this phenomenon is not limited to women alone.
Men's critical days even have their own slang name - Manstruation, which is a testament to the significance of this event in the male gender. According to Sergei Agarkov, who conducted extensive research in this area and is a candidate of medical sciences, male hormonal failures, in contrast to those in women, do not occur monthly, but throughout life. The specialist classifies these critical days into three categories - annual, monthly, and daily.
Moreover, age-related hormonal malfunction occurs in men. For instance, after the age of 30, a man's testosterone levels gradually decrease, causing certain hormonal and behavioral changes. Sylvain Memun, a French specialist in andrology, also acknowledges the presence of similar cycles in men. However, he attributes the phenomenon to the period of sperm maturation, which lasts about 70-75 days. Conversely, the well-known Bayer company has published data that suggest a cycle of 23-33 days, which is associated with hormonal fluctuations. As we can see, there are several opinions regarding the cause of critical days in men, but the existence of this phenomenon is indisputable.
The British scientist Richard Petley, in his research, discovered that day and period manifestations can occur as a result of stressful stimuli such as an argument with a girlfriend, losing your favorite soccer team, or a failure at work. These factors, according to experts, play one of the main roles in the manifestation of the male counterpart of PMS.
Notwithstanding, the hormonal level remains the most important factor. All researchers agree that the age factor is of great importance because it directly affects the indicators of hormonal stability in men.
